KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief

Season of GE14 letters

PKR's de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, in an open letter, implored Malaysians to support Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad's attempt to bring change in the 14th general election.

BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak, in his own open letter, urged Malaysians to make the right choice.

The prime minister's press secretary Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad too had his piece to say, urging voters to choose BN, which has a track record, instead of a "coalition of enemies".

Former minister Syed Hamid Albar said he was puzzled by people interpreting his letter calling for change in the 14th general election as backing BN.

Penang BN chief Teng Chang Yeow urged the people to vote in a strong opposition to allow check and balance against the Penang government.

Both Najib and Mahathir will also hold a live address on polling day.

The BN Strategic Communications team criticised DAP supporters for calling national shuttler Lee Chong Wei a "running dog" for campaigning for BN.

Former Chief Justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad launched a pre-general election attack on Mahathir, accusing him of being the first to have interfered in the promotion of judges.

Invoke predicts slim Harapan win

PKR-linked think tank Invoke claimed that Harapan will win the majority of parliamentary seats in Peninsular Malaysia to pull off a slim win at the federal level.

It also made a bold prediction that Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein will be defeated in Sembrong.

Hishammuddin said he hoped BN can win the general election with support from all races.

Najib claimed no Malays turned at Harapan rallies, claiming that they were dominated by DAP supporters.

Former minister Rafidah Aziz said anyone can be "holier than a kleptocrat" after Najib told her that she should not adopt a "holier than thou" attitude.

The prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor urged voters not to be emotional in their decision.

Caretaker Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman denied saying that BN will implement hudud in the state despite being caught on video saying so.

Permodalan Nasional Bhd chairperson Abdul Wahid Omar warned the country will see a ratings downgrade if the goods and services tax is abolished.

PKR's Permatang Pauh candidate Nurul Izzah Anwar said she was saddened by sabotage actions against her campaign.

Amanah finally named Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz as its Kelantan menteri besar candidate if Harapan wins the state.
