Anwar's olive branch to Hadi

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim set tongues wagging after his trip to Kelantan also included a meeting with the sons of former PAS spiritual adviser - the late Nik Aziz Nik Mat.

PKR-linked preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin, who was at the meeting, said that Anwar had relayed a desire to rekindle a sense of brotherhood with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

This came amid raging tensions between Anwar's ally DAP and Hadi over the latter’s remarks against the party and non-Malays.

Govt's unity show

In the latest episode of bizarre political events post-GE15, the coalition government held a convention at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur - Umno's home ground.

There, DAP leaders spoke from a stage where Umno leaders used to attack them, and shouts of reformasi - once a tagline against past Umno-led governments - filled the air.

The messaging and goal was simple: Convince party members and the public that the government parties are united ahead of the six state election.

If all goes well, the coalition government might even get a renewed mandate for a second season in power after GE16, according to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Dr M's latest exit

Barely three months after quitting Pejuang, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has exited the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition he decided to align with.

His reason - is that GTA was not moving forward and non-functional.

He will instead focus on his “Malay People's Proclamation” campaign which claims Malays had lost their political power.

  • Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that Putrajaya was allocating RM103.8 million to imams and other mosque officers and religious school teachers in Kelantan this year.
